ODYSSEY, USA – Melanie Jacobs’ parents are very disappointed in their daughter after she donated all of her money to famed prosperity gospel teacher, Joel Osteen. Dale and Ann Jacobs found out earlier today that a total of $137.68 was sent by Melanie to Lakewood Church in Houston, TX.
When questioning their daughter as to why she would do such a thing, she told her parents that “Mr. Osteen is just such an inspiring speaker. I wanted to support his ministry so I could be rich like him. It’s like he said, ‘God wants us to prosper financially, to have plenty of money, to fulfill the destiny He has laid out for us.’ I want to grow up to be just like him.” The Jacobs family have since confiscated radio in an effort to keep these bad ideas out of their daughter’s head. They will also be keeping any future money she gets so she can’t send it to fraudsters on the radio.
This story comes on the heels of Melanie believing popular preacher Henry Fernbank’s false predictions of Jesus’ return. Fernbank claimed to know when Jesus would return, in direct opposition to Matthew 24:36, which says “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
